When it comes to an effective PR campaign, nothing can be left to chance and good public relations are all down to timing and targeting.

Our team can take a project and run with it, stopping only when success can be measured in terms of media coverage and return on investment. We are highly experienced in event management, copywriting and media liaison and together can create tailored packages to suit every PR need.

This year we have already spearheaded several highly successful campaigns that attracted the interest of the local and national media. In each case, timing and targeting were at the heart of the whole project and led to success. Events and milestones of any kind are a fantastic way of establishing a hook for journalists and, ultimately, help build highly effective PR campaigns.

For example, in February we were asked by Romanian Ambassador Dr. Ion Jinga to promote the opening of the Romanian Consular Office in Edinburgh. We organised an exclusive photo call at Edinburgh Castle and invited select local broadcast and print journalists to attend. Ultimately, we secured substantial coverage for the event in two leading Scottish broadsheets (Scotsman and Herald).

We were also asked by Seafood Scotland to promote the fact the 200th tonne of rubbish was being removed from the North Sea as part of the International Fishing for Litter Campaign.

We contacted key print and broadcast journalists, supplied them with an initial press release outlining the event and inviting them to a photocall at Peterhead Harbour to witness the rubbish being brought ashore. Interviews with fishermen and officials were arranged and, as a result, we secured substantial local and national television, radio and print coverage for both the campaign and Seafood Scotland.

We have also managed the profiles of two leading Scottish women – singer/songwriter Charlotte Gordon Cumming and professional make-up artist Lynne Mills.

Both women were keen to raise their personal profiles and both had interesting stories to tell.

Charlotte was about to launch her latest album – The Brave Songs – and based on that we managed to book her a live, personal appearance on STV’s The Hour show and also secured large editorial features in The Times, Daily Record, Press & Journal and Courier.

Lynne, owner of Eye Candy Scotland, was recently nominated for an industry ‘Oscar’ at the 2011 Professional Beauty Awards. We managed to get her high profile photo features in Scotland on Sunday’s Spectrum Magazine and The Edinburgh Evening News Weekender.

A timely ‘hook’ is a pivotal part of any PR campaign and is the first thing most journalists will look for when approached. As a leading Scottish PR agency, we always ensure there is substantial bait and it pays dividends in the end.
