Global Recognition for Wester Ross Garden

World's Best Gardens

Attadale Gardens, Wester Ross, this week received the recognition of being one of the World’s Most Beautiful Gardens and the only Scottish nomination.

Close to Scotland’s popular tourist route, the North Coast 500, Attadale Gardens were informed on Monday that had included them in their list of the ‘Top 15 most beautiful Gardens in the World’ along with others including Kew Gardens in London, the Gardens of the Palace of Versailles, Butchart Gardens in Canada and Gardens in Japan, USA and Mexico.

Lovingly designed and created by Nicky Macpherson following a severe storm in the 1980’s, Nicky’s legacy has now been taken over by her daughter, Joanna, who said, “Imagine our delight to be included in such distinguished company, it is a true accolade to my mother whosevision it was to create this beautiful garden and as we prepare to reopen to the public on 15th July, it couldn’t have come at a better time”.

The mild climate of Wester Ross is influenced by the Gulf Stream which allows many more tender plants to flourish and thrive while water features, magnificent trees and rhododendrons form the backdrop to this secret gem. There are several individual areas like the Peace Garden, the Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden and the Fernery that are a must to visit as are the beautiful sculptures dotted throughout the gardens.
