The Royal Scots Club are delighted to confirm that the first of their Literary Lunches will feature Ian Rankin discussing his new novel, The Dark Remains.

The novel is a prequel to the iconic Laidlaw trilogy by the ‘Godfather of Tartan Noir’, William McIlvanney, and is based on a manuscript left unfinished by McIlvanney when he died in 2015. Following Rankin’s sell-out talk at the Edinburgh Book Festival and outstanding reviews, the Literary Lunch promises to be an excellent opportunity to hear Rankin discuss the original Laidlaw trilogy, and this exciting new addition to the canon.

The Literary Lunch which was postponed earlier this year due to coronavirus restrictions now has two available dates to allow more Scottish Crime fans a chance to hear from their favourite authors.

Ian Rankin will be joined by Lin Anderson who will be discussing ‘The Killing Tide’ which continues the story of forensic scientist Dr Rhona MacLeod and Lesley Kelly whose first novel ‘A Fine House in Trinity’ was longlisted for the McIlvanney Prize.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite for the Scottish Crime Literary Lunch on 23rd – 24th September 2021.
