The striking watercolours of Mr. S.N. Srinivasan, Consul and Head of Chancery at the Consulate General of India, and Tartan Silk's MD Martin Hunt, will be unveiled for a private showing today. The exhibition will then be open daily to the public from July 2 until July 21, from 12-2pm and 5-10pm.

The invitation only event, inaugurated by Consul General of India Mr. Anil K. Anand, will herald the start of an exhibition that will run from July 2nd until 21st at Suruchi Too in Constitution Street.

Mr Hunt, managing director of Tartan Silk PR in Dundas Street, said his love of watercolour painting began during a holiday in 2008 when he and a travelling companion decided to sign up for watercolour classes.

He added: “I loved it so much once I got started I knew it was something that would continue long after the holiday had ended. Once home, it was clear I had the bug and I began heading out for the odd weekend to paint anything that caught my eye.

“To be able to capture some of the most beautiful sights on canvas is very relaxing and satisfying. It has also changed the way I view everything as I now look at things in terms of how I could paint them in watercolour, which gives you an entirely new and fresh perspective on life.

“I was delighted when Mr Srinivasan invited me to show some of my work alongside his own, as he felt our styles were complementary, it is a true honour.” Mr. Srinivasan, who is a senior Indian diplomat is also an amateur artist and is keenly interested in landscapes and flowers.  The abundance of natural beauty in Scotland has inspired him to do paintings highlighting these aspects.

The Master Chefs of Suruchi Too will also be launching their India-Scotland food festival which will run throughout the duration of the exhibition. The gifted gastronomes will demonstrate their mastery of cooking by marrying 100% Scottish produce, including salmon, venison and trout, with traditional Indian cooking techniques and spices.

Suruchi always showcases artists with an Indo-Scottish connection. The popular restaurant’s menu is written in Scots and, in the past, it has featured several artists from India, including musicians, craftsman and writers.
